On this episode of #PitchChris, Live in a small town and only a few options, what do you do? If you’re a composer, how do you get producers to listen to your music? and moving up in the ranks, working hard as a PA, how do you do it? Hi and welcome to Episode 22 of #PitchChris, where you guys ask me questions about the entertainment business and I answer them for you. To ask me a question, find me on social media @ChrisDeBlasio #PitchChris and I’ll be happy to answer the questions you guys have. This first question comes from Salina. Salina let’s see what you got to say. Hi Chris, my name is Salina Fugate and I’m an actress/singer who lives in Florence, Alabama and I was just wondering, what do you do when you live in a small town and there aren’t very many places you can get professional experience. Where do you go and how do you find the connections, how do you get the jobs? Hey Salina, I feel you so you’re in a small town, it’s kind of hard to get some of these professional Productions coming into town but don’t knock Alabama. Alabama does have some big Productions running through it every now and again. We actually just shot something in Alabama not too long ago but I’d recommend that if you’re looking to get more Productions there’s a lot of stuff going on in here in Atlanta. Atlanta is not too far away from Alabama but what I would recommend you doing in order to kind of wean your way into this market, set up meetings. Take a week, take two weeks if you can and set up meetings with people in the industry out here. Make a couple of phone calls, set up some meetings, come up here for the day. Meet with a bunch of people and then build your contacts. If you enjoy the small town and you don’t want to leave, you always have the option of creating your own content. There is a tremendous amount of people that are looking for new original content and if you can go on YouTube or some of these other social media platforms and create your own content, you can stay in your own Hometown and you can still do what you love doing.
