The First 40 Days in Ministry

This isn’t a highlight reel.
This is the process documented in real time.

Man speaking to a full room of people in a business small group setting with a screen reading “Surrender your Control” and a sign saying “We Didn’t Outgrow the Vision – We Outgrew the Room,” representing growth, faith, and preparing for increase in Chris DeBlasio’s ministry journey

Day 37 – Preparing the House Before the Harvest

May 7, 2026 — Thursday

Some nights you plan for a small group…

…and God sends a crowd.

More Than Expected

This was our ROI in-person business small group morning meeting.

We had:

  • more people than chairs

  • more conversations than time

  • more hunger than I expected

We were literally pulling chairs from the room next door.

And I joked to myself:

“It’s probably my wife’s cooking…”

But deep down, I knew—

Something is happening.

The Message

The theme for the morning was simple:

Surrendering control.

Because if there’s one thing entrepreneurs struggle with—

it’s letting go.

We try to control:

  • the numbers

  • the outcomes

  • the people

  • the timeline

Everything.

But here’s the truth:

Control creates pressure.
Surrender creates peace.

We’re called to steward…

But God is responsible for the outcome.

The Shift

When you release control:

  • you stop carrying what isn’t yours

  • you stop forcing what isn’t ready

  • you start trusting what you can’t see

And that’s where peace shows up.

The Response

After the message…

people stayed.

They didn’t rush out.

They leaned in.

Conversations opened up.

New people joined.

And it became clear:

We outgrew the room.

Later That Day

I walked the building with leadership.

And something interesting happened.

One of the businesses in our building is moving out.

Which means…

more space is opening up.

And as we walked through it…

we weren’t just looking at empty rooms.

We were envisioning capacity.

The Parallel

It hit me in that moment:

What’s happening in my ROI small group…

Is happening in the church.

Growth.

And not just growth…

Preparation for growth.

Faith Looks Like This

You don’t wait until the room is full to prepare.

You prepare before it’s full.

You:

  • make space

  • set systems

  • expand vision

believing God will fill it.

This Is How God Works

He doesn’t just send increase.

He prepares you to handle it.

Because if you’re not ready for growth…

growth becomes a burden.

The Bigger Lesson

This wasn’t just about rooms.

It was about mindset.

Too many people wait for evidence…

before they move.

But faith says:

Move first.
Trust later.

The Question

Are you preparing…

for what you’ve been praying for?

Or are you waiting…

until it shows up?

Because There’s a Difference

Waiting requires comfort.

Preparing requires faith.

The Reminder

“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” Hebrews 11:1

You may not see the people yet.

You may not see the increase yet.

But if God spoke it…

you prepare for it.

Closing Thought

This morning showed me something clearly:

Growth isn’t the miracle.

Preparation is.

Because preparation says:

“I trust God enough to make room… before I see the results.”
