Day 38 – When Helping People Becomes the Goal

May 8, 2026 — Friday

There’s a difference between building a life…

and constantly trying to prove one.

A Packed Friday

Fridays are my consulting days.

Discovery calls.

Sales meetings.

ROI work.

Personal branding clients.

And yesterday was full.

A few years ago…

I would’ve looked at that schedule and thought:

“Good. Fill every open slot.”

Every hour.

Every meeting.

Every opportunity.

Because somewhere deep down…

I thought being busy meant being valuable.

But Something Has Changed

Yesterday I caught myself thinking:

“I don’t actually have to fill every Friday.”

And that realization felt…

freeing.

Because for most of my entrepreneurial life…

I was always chasing:

  • the next sale

  • the next number

  • the next milestone

Always trying to maximize.

Always trying to produce.

But now?

I’m more interested in alignment than volume.

The Bigger Question

I started asking myself:

“Why am I actually taking on clients?”

Is it:

  • for the money?

  • to stay busy?

  • to feel important?

Or is it because I genuinely want to help them?

And honestly…

I truly enjoy helping people.

The money matters.

Of course it does.

But now I see it differently:

Money is the byproduct.
Impact is the mission.

What I’ve Learned About Success

When I was younger in sales…

everything was about the number.

Close more.

Produce more.

Scale faster.

But the businesses and relationships that lasted?

They were built on care.

Not pressure.

Not transactions.

Connection.

A Conversation That Stuck With Me

I was talking with a potential client yesterday.

And I told him something that surprised even me as I was saying it:

“I don’t just want to help you grow your business.
I want to make sure you stay healthy while you grow it.”

Because I’ve seen too many entrepreneurs:

  • build success

  • hit their goals

  • make the money

And still destroy themselves in the process.

The Lie Entrepreneurs Believe

We think:

“Once I reach the next level… I’ll finally have peace.”

But peace isn’t found at the finish line.

Peace comes from:

  • alignment

  • health

  • purpose

  • relationships

The Shift In My Heart

There was a time where I built businesses because I wanted freedom.

Now?

I want to build people.

That’s different.

What Fulfillment Actually Feels Like

One of the guys in our ROI group recently started a business.

He had his first major sales opportunity.

A real shot to change his future.

And at the end of our conversation…

I just felt led to pray for him.

Not because it was strategic.

Not because it was polished.

Because I genuinely cared.

And honestly?

That felt more fulfilling than closing deals ever did.

The Real Win

Leads are being passed around.

People are helping each other.

Connections are being made.

And there’s no manipulation behind it.

No hidden agenda.

Just people…

wanting to see other people win.

What I’m Realizing

When you stop obsessing over numbers…

you start seeing people clearly.

Because numbers don’t have emotions.

Numbers don’t have families.

Numbers don’t stay awake at night anxious about life.

People do.

The Leadership Lesson

If all you focus on is growth…

you’ll eventually use people.

But if you focus on serving people…

growth becomes the byproduct.

The Anchor

“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves.” Philippians 2:3

Closing Thought

I used to think success meant:

building bigger businesses.

Now I think success looks more like this:

Helping people become healthier, stronger, wiser, and more grounded in who God created them to be.

Because businesses grow.

Money comes and goes.

But transformed people?

That impact lasts forever.
