Producer Pitching – How to Do it the Right Way

Producer Pitching should NEVER be done over an email.

“Okay, so I’m going to give you some words of advice about producer pitching.

Never, ever, EVER pitch a producer in an email.

I don’t know if you can see this…but this is insane.

This is a bunch of paragraphs. Most producers do not have the time to sit down and read paragraphs of an email – especially if they don’t know you that well.

This is not going to get read. It’s a waste of time.”

Condense Your Pitch Into a 60-Second Message

“What I would encourage you to do is to pick up the phone and call. Schedule an appointment and do a 60-second pitch. Take your wonderful concept, condense it down to 60 seconds, and then present it to a producer.

That’s the way you’re going to be able to get it done. Stuff like this is not going to get seen.

Pick up the phone. Call. I’d love to hear your pitch: 60-seconds or less.”

If You Can Say It (in 3-4 sentences), Then You Can Sell It

In the above snippet taken from his video, Producer Pitching, Chris DeBlasio exposes a problem that many people refuse to change: the long email. Most marketing experts agree that when you need a lot of words to explain the value of your product or service, you don’t really know what you’re selling.

You should be able to explain your message in a concise, 3-4 sentence pitch. If you cannot concisely convey the value of what you offer, then how can you expect someone else to get it?

You can’t.

But many producers, myself included, would be happy — THRILLED — to hear your pitch if you do it the right way.

And by the way, that’s an invitation, everyone.

But make it GREAT.
